Energy Healing Basics

Finding your place of balance is important especially in our crazy world. Reiki, chakra work, and other energy work modalities offer tools to clear energy blockages and sluggish energy as well as promote healing. Understanding your energy flow can be very helpful and lead to powerful healing.

Energy Systems

Our bodies have energy systems which influence our physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Blocked or stagnant energies cause unwanted symptoms. Energy work like Reiki can help get your energies flowing properly again.

We have a number of different energy systems that when flowing and working as they should, allow us to feel secure, vibrant, and clear-headed. Stagnant or blocked energies cause an imbalance and distress. One of these systems are the chakras. Chakras are energy centers that spin and influence different aspects of our wellbeing. Another system is the aura (or biofield) which surrounds our body and is generally considered to be made up of several layers. This energy system is why we walk into a room and get a feeling about it. Other energies flow through our bodies in pathways called meridians or nadis.

Energy Work Modalities

One type of energy work is Reiki. Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, stress reduction, and your body’s natural healing ability. During a session the Reiki practitioner places their hands lightly on or above the recipient’s body and channels universal life energy to the recipient. The system of Reiki encompasses more than the hands-on healing practice and also includes meditations, self-healing techniques, and precepts that help improve spiritual connection and encourage inner peace.

Not all energy work is Reiki however, there are many different modalities including crystals, sound healing, breath work, and meditation….along with many, many others.
