Tip #1: Step back and review.
Sometimes things just spin around in our minds and make us think things are bigger to tackle then they are. Taking a moment to review what needs to be done and being realistic about what we can get done helps prevent overwhelm. Prioritize what needs doing, take things one step at a time, and be sure to take care of yourself.
Tip #2: Move.
Just gentle movement like going outside and talking a walk can really help. Besides the physical benefits of healthy movement, the change of environment can be calming.
Tip #3: Take a breath.
Things like meditation, deep breathing, yoga, and other mindfulness practices can help clear and reset our minds. Doing a little something in the morning can help us start the day with a calm mindset that makes it easier to focus and not start out feeling flustered.
Tip #4: Rest.
Stress often leads to insomnia…which makes you even more stressed among other things. Strive for at least 7 hours of sleep with regular wake and sleep times to help not prime yourself for stress reactions and improve wellbeing.
Tip #5: Take a break.
Sometimes you just need a break and to do something enjoyable…but be aware if you are constantly running away from your stressors. Journaling can be helpful to pickup on this pattern and can help you sort your thoughts and feelings in general.
Tip #6: Hold a crystal.
Crystals including amethyst, lepidolite, smoky quartz, black tourmaline, and calcite can help you while dealing with stress. Hold one while meditating or just sitting, or keep one in a pocket. Just keep in mind that crystals are a good complementary modality while taking practical steps as well.
Tip #7: Get some Reiki.
If you are attuned to Reiki then when you’re stressed it’s a good time to get back to doing daily self Reiki. If you aren’t attuned getting a session either in person or remotely can help reduced stress.
